The process of change in nature is a constant source of wonder and inspiration for artist Jodi Reeb. She mimics this process in her work through the combination of paint and texture. This process of change and transformation is supported by integrating many different media such as collage, printmaking and acrylic paint on various sustainable substrates. In support of her nature-based subject matter, Reeb uses a combination of green materials to create her original paintings. She uses painting surfaces such as Clayboard, Gessoboard and canvas stretchers that are made from sustainable forest products without formaldehyde and contain no harmful or volatile compounds. Another important factor is that these materials are harvested with no damage to wildlife, plants, soil and water. The canvas stretcher bars she uses have acid-free cores made from a cellulose by-product that is an ecologically renewable resource. Jodi Reeb lives in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and has been creating art for over 25 years since childhood. Her artwork has been exhibited widely receiving numerous awards and is in many private and corporate collections nationally. Reeb-Myers creates her mixed-media paintings from her studio at the Traffic Zone Center for Visual Art in Minneapolis, but travels to the countryside to receive her inspiration, combining contrasting landscapes and environments in her work.
