“First, I roll out my canvas and either place it on the wall or hang it on the easel. After countless sketches the thought is met with the idea. At that moment I begin the painting. Colors are sometimes thought out, other times color comes out in the moment when the paint meets the canvas. Most paintings have a build up of layers using different medias such as resins, molding paste, sand, wood dust or torn canvases. My paintings consist of very little brush use, mostly palette knives and scraping tools in different sizes. Sometimes when the energy level is high I use just my hands to spread the paint using large amounts of media. I put my whole self into the painting as if I’m living in the painting, which at that moment I am. My paintings consist of positive energy where I create non-representational images of ‘Glimpses,’ based on landscapes or the second of what we see or think we see. The viewer sees images or senses a certain familiar feeling that they can relate to. Once that connection is made, I have accomplished a work of art.”
