Barbara s portfolio of photographic imagery depicts repeated patterns, colors, shapes, and nuances of nature that are often overlooked by people viewing our outside environments. Her subjects of colored bamboo, New Zealand flax plants, rainbow eucalyptus, and multicolored grasses present a harmonious blend of shadows, vibrancy, and composition that is striking and beautiful. Growing up in Nashville, Tennessee, Barbara was influenced by the close proximity and abundance of natural open spaces within her immediate neighborhood, as well as the Great Smokey Mountains where she often hiked as a child. Her first hobby was collecting post cards of the idyllic places she visited, allowing her to remember and reminisce those meaningful experiences. Collecting post cards of stunning scenery lead to Barbara s passion to create her own nature imagery. Art humanizes spaces, states Barbara whose work adorns the walls of many healthcare facilities, corporate settings, and residential spaces. She holds a Masters Degree in Art Therapy and understands the significance of using art as a therapeutic modality for healing, alleviating stress, and personal exploration. It is Barbaras goal that viewers will momentarily escape from everyday stress and clutter as they view her photographs. Barbara is an artist, educator, consultant, and author. While traveling extensively throughout the United States and Europe, she visits botanical gardens, parks, and beaches to photograph. Having lived in Encinitas, California for over 35 years, Barbara describes her beach town as paradise with the best weather in the country. Many of her macro images are captured in Encinitas and neighboring areas of Southern California. California
