Born in Newport, RI, Linda King Davey received her BFA in painting from Rhode Island School of Design in 1977. After graduation she pursued a career in the greeting card industry as Creative Director at Paramount Cards, then Vice President of Creative at Marian Heath Inc. During this time she continued to develop her personal work through painting, sculpture and collage. "My lifelong proximity to the ocean, a rocky coastline and vivid seasonal color has influenced my work not in a literal way, but by way of color, energy and movement. I enjoy exploring a variety of styles, subjects and media while attempting to keep an open mind as to ways one subject or technique might translate to another in fresh, interesting ways. I attempt to learn something new from every piece I create; to use painting as a process for exploration rather than a means to an end."
